Subject: A night of redemption.
This was a great show in an undersold Meadowlands arena that in an earlier life was a scary place to be a tripping deadhead. But in 09 with the Newark arena in place the old Brendan Byrne needed the biz & the once infamous "killer bee's" were more harmless than houseflies. I had a great seat strait away just to the side of the tapers. It was an older, more relaxed, mid-week scene around us & the vibes were exceptional. Does Branford deserve all the credit for my melted face? Of course not. But his presence seemed to galvanize the show. It was a great night & my faith was fully restored. I woke my wife up again when i got home & shared the good news. "They still got it, I still got it, & now your gonna get it." Thanks again boys.....

Of course, the night before is preferred but this one's no slouch; a moving tribute to Garcia's music (check that setlist) and it's all well-played and recorded - sometimes I forget I'm listening to an AUD.

Touch? It works. And who's to say it can't be played as a ballad (which it isn't really here). Might be interesting if it *was* slowed way down and played as a ballad.
Days Between? Beautiful, spooky - not too slow at all.

Branford gets some good airtime, but no real serious fireworks like the night before. Still, there isn't anything badly played here - this one simply has different goals and reaches all of them. Check that blues drive in Cucamonga, yo -

Subject: You guys are really drinking the "kool"-aid
Of all the reviews below, two are 4/5 stars, all the rest are 5/5.

Get real people. Touch of Grey is not supposed to sound like a ballad, its supposed to be brimming with energy and blowing through the speakers.

Days Between is supposed to be a ballad. My deceased grandmother, bless her soul, a huge fan of Lawrence Welk, would have found it to be too slow.

Come on, I could sound like a genius playing with these guys, because there is so much room between notes to explore.

So much hate from people, who can't spell. Kudos to Ole Uncle John for not being a fascist.

Kockman is bunk!!!
he has no idea!!! he is a army man, he was told how to think. He cant even, for the slightest moment, even have a spark of original thought in that jar head of his... show did sound kick ass. I'm listening to them all starting backwards from the gorge. so far all worth the time. I went to gorge nd it was way fun. no tools like the kockman there!!!

a) people like KOCHMAN below should be banned from this site and placed on an iv drip of prozac.

People having an opinion different from yours isn't a crime.Banning anything is fascist.

b) seniority goes to the folks that were at the show (I was) in these reviews, THEN PEOPLE THAT HAVE ACTUALLY LISTENED TO IT.

What arrogance

c) while no one expects blind adulation,

Though it is clearly preferred

d) if you want to be a tool go onto craig's list and rant and rave to your hearts content otherwise STFU.

As for the show, Brandon's appearance made it more listenable to me than most of the others, not terribly impressed myself, but then again I'm not 19.

Subject: another outstanding show
Went to this show and i have to say it was just amazing, Branford adds a whole other element to it an really brings energy and inspiration. some really great shows have been played at the meadowlands and this is one of them, the night before this was outstanding too. Pride of Cucamonga and Doin That Rag were two songs i really really wanted to hear them play and i couldnt believe i got both. I went to Hartford too but i liked this show better even though Hartford did have some unique elements to it (amazing version of Tomorrow Never Knows) but they seemed a little tired from the 5 nights straight they played before it which included MSG the night before. They probably should have taken a one day break but oh well, it was still a good show overall. i can always forgive a few vocal flubs. Anyways, definitely give both a listen. Also, the Casey Jones played on 4/29 blows away the other version they played in Albany at the Knickerbocker/Times Union Center. Bobby and Warren nail all the vocals and they kick it into overdrive at the end.

On the way home from this show I was on I-95 northbound and caught a huuuuge shooting star. the thing literally hung in the sky and had a trail commin off it. never got to look at one for so long before. it was a nice sign after a great night of music. almost didnt even go to this show but last minute hopped in the car an went. was pretty happy when i saw branford walk out during crazy fingers.

Subject: listen again....
i listened to both IZOD shows last night at work and when i got home put on some 70's dead (after pig pen) and if you go back and listen to say a 77 scarlet fire, it sounds nearly the same as it does here (0n the 4/28 show that is).
so before you say this was lame or dull, check your history. i dont think we've seen the core 4 jam like this since the good ol' days. warren is right on with garcis leads and jeff is giving me chills reminding me of brent and playing some great stuff, and being at some of these show i never saw a single person frowning.
maybe the excitement of the dead touring again might taint how some feel about the shows because they expect more, but it's a first go around in 5 years. there is going to be a bit of rust. what i have been hearing at these shows are conversations. at first it was like 1000 people all talking at once, (like in a crowed room with 50 conversations going on) to a group convo where everone puts in an idea, they all vote on it and run with the best idea.
love these shows, applauds the tapers...keep it comming

Subject: Eternally Grateful.......
Been following this tour closely and must say I am totally impressed with the quality of the shows. Also pretty much blown away with the fact that, in this the year 2009, we can still catch a Live Dead show! Had written the possibility off in the last few years but the boys (bless em!) have proved me wrong (pranksters to the last).
We all know change happens and it could be the Last Time so enjoy this experience whilst you can.
(Jerry would totally dig this current tour so its okay if you do too)

I guess one could label me an 'older Head' these days..... born into the tribe & first show in 1980 & honestly can admit I never bought into the just another picky Deadhead trip. Grateful for all the shows, all the tunes, and just to be part of the magic. So have noticed with a grin & sense of satisfaction that as this tour progresses the naysayers are becoming fewer & further apart.

Hippie training 101: Remember...we are all part of "The Show"....quiet the mind & let the music take you....Turn on your Lovelight....Be Kind....& mostly be Grateful for what we got!

~and yea... miss Jerry every day.

Just when you think, no way could they pull it off AGAIN. There has to be a dud coming up, they blast out ANOTHER amazing show.

I could do this for months, a new show every day or so. Part of me is so happy yet there is a part that is sad, knowing that this is possibly the Last Time we will be able to gather and rejoice with Our Band, the band of the ages.

God bless the Grateful Dead.

I wake up...and the show from last here!!
I cannot believe the speed and quality of work of the tapers on this Dead tour. Thank you!
As for the show, damn!, every night is getting better and better. They truly are jamming out every song to the maximum and really making the whole show crunchy and natural feeling. You can really tell by listening to progression of this tour that Warren is getting more and more comfortable every night. Everyone is playing at their best in years! this incarnation of the dead, is comparable to many of the best years of the Grateful Dead. This may be blasphemy to some, but that is just my unbiased opinion (unbiased, haha).
I wish I could have made it to this whole tour, but I only made it to Greensboro, and Rothbury is my next. The Dead are stunning me with the precision and professionalism with which they are playing and selecting set lists, yet they are still managing to cut loose and have fun every night. I hope we have years ahead with this incarnation if the dead, because it just feels right. When jimmy and warren were both on dual lead guitar with the dead, it felt kind of crowded with 3 guitars out there. This Dead is the shit and I can really gauge by the reactions I am reading that most deadheads are just as stoked as I am to have something like this on tour. Thanks to the boys! and many many thanks again to the tapers who allow me to follow the tour day by day b/c I cannot afford to be there! Peace and happy trails my fellow travellers

Subject: Really fun show
I started out giving this show a 4 as I dont think this was quite as over the top as Tuesday but here is why this deserves a 5:

* Great shakedown street scene outside, lax to non-existent hassles from security.

* We had great seats on the floor right behind the tapers and had alot more room to move around than 5th row right in front of Branford the night before.

* I said to my buddy Paul in the middle of the show that once you hear this on tape you will think this is really good and shake your head and say 'I dont remember this being this hot'.

* Musically Branford adds that X factor and as soon as he came out in Crazy Fingers they stepped it up a notch and crushed it for the rest of the show.

* Terrapin, ROR, IKYR, all monsters - women encore inspired they teased this at Wilkes-Barre then went into Liberty which was fine but not this. Wheel also gets a nod.

There were alot more people at this show but agree with the observation they could have fit another 5,000 in there easily. Sound was excellent. I felt fortunate to have been at both of these and had so much fun with a friend of 30 years both nights!

Subject: Lady with a fan/ Terrapin station
Like everyone said thanks for the quick upload and keep up the great work it is greatly appreciated.

So I know this is probably a nubie question but what is the connection between lady with a fan and terrapin station? When i first clicked on lady w/ a fan and heard what I think is terrapin station, I thought it was a mistake but when I looked up lady with a fan everything that comes up sounds the same. So is it a different version of terrapin or something?
